Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

Hi Everyone,

Recently I have been introduced to live streaming media, specifically a website called Blab http://www.blab.im. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Blab, (and hopefully I wasn’t the only one) it enables up to four people to have a live face-to-face conversation from anywhere in the World. Others can watch the conversation and comment, if they choose, in the side chat.

After a few weeks of watching the interactions, it struck me that people were meeting on a regular basis and real relationships were being forged. It doesn’t matter that one person is in Los Angeles while another is in London, and another in Rhode Island, and yet another in Australia. Friendships are being carved in the present moment, which is “technically different” for each person. My mind giggles at the idea that it is Wednesday in one location and Thursday in another, dusk and dawn, summer and winter all simultaneously as these world citizens share their lives with each other.

I am witnessing people, (who just a few years ago would not have access to each other) create true, invested relationships with one another. I am excited to see people curious about each other and the differing cultures and customs only to find common threads that weave us together in unity.

I have seen people stay on the site all night long to support someone who lives alone and is under-the-weather or in a compromised emotional state. During these exchanges, each person is in the moment together, time and space having no barring what-so-ever. The Earth and its inhabitants are being offered opportunities generations before only considered Science Fiction.

I feel blessed to watch time as it bends, and stretches, replacing rigid lines with open spaces. Finding connectedness where there was once separation. And with that thought… does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care… about time?

Do other people notice how the words we use, in large part, create the experience we are having? I decided to write random words, 103 to be exact, on pieces of paper. I folded them into little squares and tossed them into a bowl. Each week I will draw a new word and post how this word feels to me, energetically. Week #89 – USEFUL

I love this picture.  I feel it magnificently depicts the vibration of USEFUL.

When I give myself permission to throw the “label” away; when I allow myself the gift of seeing things from a different perspective; when I give life to the idea that even a paper clip can evolve past its original form… OMG life opens up and new possibilities flow abundantly.

This coming week, being Thanksgiving in the USA, provides its own opportunities to be USEFUL. It is with gratitude that I am going to do a little experiment ~ in each situation I am going to take a minute to reflect on how I am showing up as USEFUL. And, if need be, make the appropriate tweaks. I am thinking of myself as a paperclip… the 2.0 version.

And finally, when it’s my turn to say what I am thankful for at our holiday meal it will be for each of you!!! Thank you for participating every week. I am so blessed and grateful for your support.

Week #88 – SEXUALITY

It’s natural when you first think about the word SEXUALITY to think about a person’s sexual orientation. That topic is well documented and frankly left me creatively flat-lined.

Lacking inspiration I decided to look the word up in the dictionary. Surprisingly the first definition of this plural noun isn’t what I thought. The primary definition of SEXUALITY is one’s “capacity for sexual feelings.”  Yeah… that gets me going!

How many people actually use SEXUALITY in this form?  Do they think about their capacity for sexual feelings? Can humans distinguish between SEXUALITY’s raw passions and desires and deep rooted feelings of love?

SEXUALITY feels a lot more fun when I think of it from this point of view. SEXUALITY went from a tabloid headline to the Victoria Secret runway!

Wouldn’t it be fun if SEXUALITY said “Give them wings and watch them fly” (wink wink – nudge nudge).

Week #87 – THRIVE

Bye bye Stress. See ya!

I’m ready to THRIVE ~ I love the rhythm of this word. It  makes me want to sway back and forth as if I’m listening to my favorite old song. It is woven with passion and speaks of well-earned confidence.

The vibration of THRIVE isn’t promising an easy road but rather a road well traveled. For its traveler prowess and agility.

To THRIVE is to allow myself to dance in its energy; to feel vitality, excitement, and a curiosity about life. These are the gifts that lay within the frequency of THRIVE.

STRESS is the challenging frequency we operate on in our response to outside stimuli whether it be work, family, money, love or time.  Ok…. here I go agaaaaain…

Ponder this:

What if STRESS is actually the frequency that is asking you if you are living/loving your authentic self?

What if STRESS is nudging you to assess your priorities and make sure your own happiness is at the top of the list?

What if STRESS shows up most when faith in yourself seems to be nowhere in site?

What if STRESS is trying to save your life?

Week #85 – SERVICE

Traditionally this word’s vibration speaks of SERVICE to others.  And I want to honor that yet I have a different take on it and ask you all to ponder this idea???

What if you stood is SERVICE to yourself? What if that SERVICE took the shape of self-acceptance, self-respect, self-confidence, and self-reliance? And what if those characteristics manifested in the outside world and took the shape of acceptance of, respect for, confidence in, and reliance on others?  Wouldn’t that be just an awesome act of SERVICE?

Week #84 – STABILITY

STABILITY vibrates as a delicate balance between what is and what is not.

I know that sounds odd, yet as I reflect on STABILITY, it feels fluid. It depends on where I am standing and how I am viewing the situation that is an indicator as to whether I feel STABILITY or not.

Over this past week I have witnessed myself vacillate in this word’s vibration. One moment I feel my hands firmly on the wheel of my life and the next I feel the talons of fear creep in and spark doubt. Which, in turn, makes me want to look outside myself to find STABILITY.

My truth says I am the only ingredient needed to create STABILITY.  Yes it is nice to have money in the bank, a roof over my head, family and friends that love me.  Yet, at the end of the day, my STABILITY is an inside job (as is everything) and my willingness to trust that I am being enough and doing enough to create that STABILITY lets me sleep at night.

Week #83 – SELFLESS

I love this word and, if I’m being honest, it’s not an easy vibration for me to demonstrate.

SELFLESS is to act without expectation. Many times I think I am not attaching anything to a gift, a kind word or deed yet I know that somewhere deep inside I want acknowledgment.  As I write this I can picture myself letting a car into my lane in traffic and how annoyed I get when the person doesn’t give me a wave or a nod.

I don’t know many people who are truly SELFLESS. Maybe Mother Teresa, Ghandi or Nelson Mandela have mastered this extremely high vibrational energy.  I, on the other hand, am a work in progress.  And progress is good!

Week #82 – HURDLES

On the heels of last week’s “challenge” we have HURDLES. When I thought about what I would write I felt my groin pull, not physically but mentally. All I could picture were guys like the ones below and the crazy way their bodies have to move to get over HURDLES.

The vibration of HURDLES exhausts me. I just want to scream “Calgon take me away.”  {Okay, I aged myself with that one.} Throughout the week I annoyed myself trying to come up with some sugaring spin on it. Each time I got nothing. The energy of this word not only tires me, it makes me feel like I’m going to be sore once it’s over.

For me, this week’s word falls into the category of “This too shall pass.”

Week #81 – CHALLENGE

My first reaction to this week’s word, CHALLENGE, was to take a nap.  Just looking at the word pooped me out. At the same time I know I have heard a call; one I can’t ignore…

As I’m pulling up my big girl pants I can feel my inner child kicking up her heels, “Enough already. Can’t I just coast for a while?” The immediate answer is no!  CHALLENGE is good; an empowerment exercise grandly designed to shake things up.

The in-your-face vibration of CHALLENGE reveals the truth of what I really think and feel about myself. It affords me an opportunity to see what I’m made of. Will I give up or push through? CHALLENGE propels my growth.

Regardless of the effort, I know I must choose to rise to the CHALLENGE, to fearlessly test the limits, to show up – no matter what!!!!!!
